The committee are considering some activities that can engage primary schools and others in raising awareness of the Oxford Freemen, and our role in the City’s history and association with Port Meadow.
It was by some luck that while considering options for what we may do, this newspaper report of a painting competition from December 1961 was found in the archives. Open to children of Freemen it reveals our previous Chair, Howard Crapper, won the 8-11 year category. We may well run a Freemen only competition at some point!
