On Dec. 16th, 1959, a meeting was held in the Town Hall at which, amongst other business, your committee felt it would be desirable to provide some sort of contact with our fellow Freemen of this city. It was agreed that I should make an attempt to launch a newsletter which could, perhaps, be produced two or three times a year.

This then is the reason you have before you a copy of

"THE OXFORD FREEMAN"

We sincerely hope you like the idea and indeed we feel that its continued publication will depend upon its reception by you.

If you do think favourably of it please let me know, together with any ideas or criticisms you may have. My address is:-

171 Headley Way, Headington.

Also at this meeting we were extremely pleased to appoint Mr. S.E. Oswin as our new Hon. Secretary. Mr. Oswin takes over from Mr. S. Pether who, for domestic reasons, is unable to continue. Your committee wish to record their deep appreciation of the way Mr. Pether so ably performed his duties.

All communications to the secretary should be sent to:-

S. E. Oswin, Esq.,

21 St. Michael's Street,

Oxford.
