How Does One Become A Freeman?

There were three ways in which to gain one's admission.

1. By birth right.

2. By serving a 7 year apprenticeship with a Freeman.

3. By purchase.

Freedom by purchase was abolished by the Municipal Reform Act of 1835 and the intending Freeman no longer has to serve a 7 year apprenticeship - this has been cut to 3 years.
