Howard Crapper served as Chair of the Freemen Committee for nearly 20 years, following in the footsteps of his father. This is an impressive service to our organisation and the committee felt it needed some recognition. We gifted Howard a lead crystal Hurricane bowl. It was hoped to have presented it to him at the Aunt Sally match in June in front of lots of fellow Freemen, but unfortunately he was unable to make that. Those present gave him an enthusiastic “thumbs up”, and I visited Howard later to present it to him in person. Howard was very appreciative, and sent us the following email message:
“May I thank you and fellow Freemen for the marvellous Chairman retirement gift of the inscribed glass rose bowl. This wonderful gift is admired by all who see it. The bowl has been crafted and is truly beautiful. I am honoured indeed by my favourite city, and wish my new chairman all the very best for the future. I hope to see you around in the time ahead and thank you for help and loyalty. Sincerely Howard.”
We hope to see Howard again at the annual dinner.
