It is proposed to erect a memorial on Port Meadow to commemorate those who died in association with the use of the Meadow as an airfield in World War 1. As the structure will be on the Meadow, it will have to be approved by the Freemen. The memorial will take the form of a stainless steel commemorative plate on a marble plinth about 11⁄2m high, standing on a base about 2m sq. It is to be located in the bathing place area at the north-west corner of the Meadow, and with interpretation boards facing the Meadow. The memorial will not be intrusive, and it is hoped that Freemen will agree to its construction. If you have any concerns or queries, please address them to our Chairman. The formal notice is provided overleaf.
